I thought I was finished with my grief about Dave losing his job until I saw one of the officers that he trained out patrolling campus. The hair raised on my neck and suddenly, the day seemed like drudgery because I had a little bit of frustration in me. Wow, it's tough..I don't really know what happened except for what Dave told me and It sounds like his boss said he was thinking it was time to part ways. My view is that Dave could have begged for his job, but I guess it wasn't worth it to him..he was burned out. I just really wish he would have told me or went looking for jobs before this happened. I have a hard time forgiving the whole lot of them. Why can I not let this go? A big snag is caused by our financial hardships, another may be that I have too many expectations. I look forward to the day when we don't need to live from paycheck to paycheck and rob refunds to pay penny. It seems that family life just does that to you. As long as I can remember, through child hood looking at the can of sardines or the expired brightly colored bakery cookies in the box from the food bank or worrying that we may get evicted from our home or that child welfare services would come and take us away, finances were not on my side except for the brief period of single life when I was working full-time as a swimming instructor at Snow College or when I took out a loan to pay for my living expenses when I moved to Salt Lake. I think my past has affected me more than I ever thought it would, but I have to hope that it will improve some day.
Dave has been really good to watch KC while I work part-time. I think we gained understanding that we didn't have before, about what it really takes to take care of KC and our apartment or what it takes to go to work every day to a part-time job that feels like a full-time job and then come home to take care of the family needs. We're just both having difficulty with change and finding new jobs, jobs that will work with our school schedule in the fall, jobs that will get us where we want to be (not college drop-outs), jobs that will keep us in our apartment, jobs to make us forgive and forget.
